Lightning strike. Where is Ben Franklin when you need him?

Hello friends-

I came across this picture, which I took – from my front porch a few summers ago in my old neighborhood. I actually was video taping a huge lightning storm and saw the “flash” and heard the “crack” of thunder that was extremely loud. I wrapped up my video shoot, and headed inside.

I then took the video, imported it into some Mac software, and was able to isolate this single frame. The frame before it and after it are blank:

Click the picture for a closer look.

You can see the interlacing on the single frame which I admit, the quality isn’t fantastic, but please remember that this was filmed on a hand-held $250 video camera if that helps at all!

So what I notice most is that the lightning isn’t a single “bolt”. It looks like a scary fiery sprawling ZAP that I was just surprised to see. What do you think? It also appears that a small runner is hitting the tree right behind that house on the corner. Very interesting.

I’ve been accused of a little photo shop magic but I assure you that this is an UNEDITED picture that I took. Just wanted to share this interesting pic of the day.

This was taken in Spring Hill, Kansas – does it make you want to get a lightning rod to protect your house? It should!!

Take care, Ryan
